PORTUGAL FACTS

In this newsletter we're going to tell you a little about Lousã which lies South/East of Coimbra.
This area was first inhabited in the 11th Century after the Moors had been removed from the area and it was safe to venture further afield.
Lousã has some beautiful buildings dating back to the 18th & 19th Centuries some of these have been beautifully restored and others are looking for a new owner to love them again.
Not far from the town there is a wonderful recreation area along the river coming down from the mountain, ideal in the summer months.
The area surrounding is full of Xisto (slate) villages and make a fascinating visit and the area is also well known for it's Xisto wines.
